Wire rope is widely used for oilfield rig drilling. Main constructions of wire rope are: 6x19S+FC 6x19S+IWR 6x19W+FC 6x19W+IWR.
The 6 x 19 classification of wire ropes includes standard 6 strands, round strand ropes with 16 through 26 wires per strand. Diameter ranges in a variety of wire ropes of point contact, line contact and surface contact. The tensile strength of wire rope can reach Grade 2160 or EEIPS.
